1. Can 80 year old windows be repaired?
Yes, we repair approximately 6000-7000 steel windows annually of all ages, shapes and sizes.

2. How will having steel windows affect my home's heat loss?
Windows are generally about 12 - 15% of heat loss in a home. Since heat rises, 70 - 80% of heat is lost through the ceiling and roof.

3. Some of my windows do not close at all, can anything be done about that?

4. Some of my windows are cut apart for air conditioner units- do I need new windows?
No, missing steel can be cut to fit and welded in place. We use vintage steel out of our inventory to match whichever window manufacturer you have in your home.

5. I have some windows that were replaced with replacement windows which have failed. What can I do?
We often can match original steel casement windows from our inventory, a collection that we've been building for 30 years, which includes thousands of windows from manufacturers such as Hopes, Crittall, Thorne, Fenestra, and many more.

6. We do not live in New York. Do you travel?
In the last 30 years we have successfully worked in 34 states in every region of the United States, from Washington to California, Illinois to Louisianna, and Massachusetts to Florida.

7. Do you sell old windows?
Yes, we have an extensive collection of windows and doors, ranging greatly in size and style. We can usually can ship in 2 to 4 weeks.

8. My windows are poorly painted and the glazing is cracked and missing. What are our options?
Once we repair the windows to operate and close properly, they can be stripped to bare metal, primed, putty glazed, and finish coated inside and out to look and work as good as new.

9. Would it be more cost affective to simply replace my old steel windows? How would replacing my windows affect my home's architecture?
Preservation of the original windows not only maintains original historical material and preserves the architectural quality of a building, but costs less than new windows.


10. Will you install insulated glass instead of single panes in my steel windows?
In 30 years have we never installed insulated glass. We have restored many windows that have had insulated glass and it almost always failed. In these situations, we remove all glass and install single pane or 1/4" laminated glass.

11. Can I bring my windows to your shop to be restored?
Yes, In the past year we have had windows sent to us from Tennessee, Illinois, Louisiana and Rhode Island.

12. Can you match some of my broken or missing hardware?
Yes, more often than not we can match vintage steel casement window hardware.
